Photoproof can be programmed to take pictures at specified intervals and store them in a memory card. The phone then can be used like a black box of a plane giving the user the ability to keep an eye on the scene observed for an extended period of time. Compared to video cameras a time lapse camera can run over a longer period of time without interruption before filling up the memory card. Photographs taken are stored on the card organized by date and time in separate folders and can be transferred to a computer for evaluation and can be converted into a video if desired. Photoproof works on legacy java game enabled camera-phone devices and can be used for a variety of purposes.
This software can be set to give alerts before and/or after each photograph is taken. This feature may be useful for some usage scenarios. The alert types can be chosen from; sound tone, sound playback ,vibration and screen backlight flashing. A combination of these alerts can also be set to work at the same time. On some phones users can also record their own voice or other sound to be played in place of the built in sound recordings. The built in recordings are "Program ready", "Everybody say cheeese!" and "Thank you!" (like a pro photographer which the author is). The words "start, roll and end" can be set to be played at the beginning and end of a shooting day in Morse Code to inform the status of shooting when alerts are disabled.
There simply is no other known application like Photoproof on the market that does a similar job and run on "Java2ME" platform. Photoproof simply turns any capable legacy camera-phone into a basic programmable photo camera. Photoproof is designed to run over days at a time when possible and can be set to take photographs between certain hours of the day like business hours.
